What is sin?
Sin is a violation of God's law. Sin offends God, because He is perfect, and every single sin is offensive to God; from lying to someone, to murder. There is a real danger in "categorizing" sins as more or less offensive to God, because all sin is deadly to man. A man who somehow lives an almost perfect life and somehow commits only one sin as long as he lives, is still as guilty of sin as the man who commits a million. They will each be condemned if they do not accept Jesus Christ as their Savior, and repent their sins.

Does God really send people to hell? In addition to being a Loving God, God is also a Just God. In fact, He is perfectly Just. God has given us His Law, but He knows that we are unable to follow His Law perfectly, so He gave us a way out, a pardon, through Jesus Christ. All a person must do to avoid condemnation is to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior, and ask for forgiveness of his sins. However, some people will refuse to do this, and since God also gave us free will, he honors their choice to reject Him. This means that they will be in violation of God's Law, and that violation carries a penalty of death. God does not condemn the sinner any more than the judge condemns the murderer. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, as God has written His Law on the hearts of man.

What is "Belief", regarding the Bible? If we believe in Jesus Christ, then we believe that He is the Son of God, and the Messiah. Believing in Him brings with it several other ideals. If Jesus is the Son of God, then we must obey His Holy Word. We must obey the things He taught us. Belief in Jesus Christ includes obedience to Him. If we truly believe in Jesus Christ, and in the Bible, then we believe that He came to this earth, born of a virgin, and that He died a excruciatingly painful and humiliating death upon the cross, for each one of us, to take our sins from us, and to pay the penalty of sin for us. .All He asks is that we believe in Him, and turn our lives over to Him.

What does it mean to repent?  Repentance is, essentially, making a new decision to turn away from something, Thus, when we repent of our sins, we make a decision to not do those things any more. Will we always succeed?  Of course not. We still live in a sinful world, and we will make mistakes. However, to the repentant heart, sin should be a mistake, and not a lifestyle. We cannot truly repent of our sins and, at the same time, be consciously be making plans to sin.  God hates sin, and He expects us to also hate our sins. He wants us to truly be sorrowful when we sin, for those sins to really matter to us, disturb us, and make us commit more fully to changing so we do not sin in that manner again. Jesus taught that we cannot .serve 2 masters at the same time. We cannot serve the Lord, and serve sin at the same time. The 2 are incompatible. Thus we should do our best to turn from our sins, and ask God's help constantly to avoid and stay away from sin. Then, when we are hurt inside because of our sin, we can truly ask God for forgiveness.
